Differences between WWE Ruthless Aggression era and PG era

The first time from when I started to properly watch wrestling was from 2002. I landed straight into the Ruthless Agression Era. I had only few glimpses from the Attitude Era, I didn’t remember it that much as I was really small at that time.

I was awed by the larger than life wrestlers(or superstars according to WWE). The biker taker, the beast Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Chris Beniot. The list of big time superstars were endless. But from 2008 all of the Ruthless Aggression Era goodness came to an abrupt end. The PG ERA begun. In my opinion, the PG Era is the worst WWE era of all time. It ruined all the fun stuffs that I as a kid and also a lot of adults used to enjoy.

In this blog, I am going to mention or talk about a few ways of how the Ruthless Agression Era is different from the PG Era. So lets get started!

VIOLENCE

The PG Era is absolutely a cartoon show. It is extremely constrained! In the Ruthless Aggression Era, there was always an anticipation of anything might happen. Anyone could start bleeding, could land on thumb tacks, take a violent chair shot to the head and so on. But in the PG Era, many moves have been banned, no chair shots to the head,  no bleeding, not cursing. Everyone is just a bunch of pussies.

MATCH QUALITY

The match quality of the Ruthless Aggression Era was awesome. Some of the match went above one hour. The wrestlers were able to express their art in the best possible way! Remember the Iron man match between Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angler, Hell in a cell match between Shawn Micheals and Triple H. It was a time, when it was cool to watch WWE.

But in PG Era, the match quality is downright awful. Yes, some of the matches are good here and there but most of them are awful. Either one of the two wrestler completely jobs out to another, or the match ends in a disqualification and count out.

COMEDY

It is like as if the jokes and comedy of the PG Era is especially made for five year old children, it is absolutely cringy as hell! They are mostly fart, slime or poop jokes, which Vince McMahon likes. It is far far behind the absolutely hilarious segments of Eddie Gurrero cheating in a match, Rikishi shoving his ass into someone’s face and so on. In PG Era all we got was Santino Marella dressed up as a woman, Hornswaggle dancing around and biting people in the ass, stupid scripted jokes from John Cena and Roman Reigns.

TREATMENT OF WOMEN

Only in this case, the PG Era is ahead of the the Ruthless Aggression Era. In Ruthless Aggression Era women were treated like trash or eye candies for men. In most cases I used to change the channel when a women’s wrestling match was on TV. They hardly used to take any bumps. I always treated those matches like a pee break,

But in the PG Era, there are real good women’s wrestling. I really enjoyed the match between Charlotte Flair and Rhonda Rousey.

CONCLUSION

So these were my point of view about the difference between the Ruthless Aggression Era and the PG Era. If you liked this blog, then please share this on Facebook!
